SHINee share their thoughts on wearing makeup for TV


Idol group SHINEE revealed their thoughts on the effects of face makeup.

SHINee served as the guests on the April 10th episode of KBS‘ ‘Lee Sora’s Second Proposal‘.
Member Jong Hyun remarked, “I think that no matter how busy you are, thorough face exfoliation is crucial to maintaining healthy skin.”

“After we began our promotions for this new album, I tried smokey-eye makeup for the very first time,” he added. “But when I removed the makeup and looked in the mirror, it was really embarrassing,” offering laughs to the audience.

Fellow member Key added, “When we first debuted, I didn’t wear eyeliner, but after I started wearing it, I realized that my eyes are really far apart from each other. I look so plain without my makeup.”

The boys who returned to the K-Pop scene with a more fierce image and powerful vocals then put on a synchronized performance on stage. Remixing their song “Stranger“, SHINee proved that they were indeed versatile K-Pop artists.

SHINee reveals teaser photos for Key



Following the release of half-naked teasers for SHINee‘s Minho, and Taemin, and Onew, the group is back with new teaser photos featuring Key!

The boys of SHINee will be dropping their 4th mini album, ‘Sherlock’, that is said to be “world class” with quality music that the boys have been diligently working on for a while.

Stay tuned as the teasers for the last members to be revealed!

‘Sherlock’ will drop on March 21st.

SM Entertainment releases official trailer video for SHINee’s ‘Sons of the Sun’


SM Entertainment recently released ‘Sons of the Sun‘, where SHINee members’ Key, Onew & Taemin are personal travel guides to Barcelona based on their own experiences in the country.

After releasing several teaser videos for the book, SM Entertainment has now unveiled the official video trailer for ‘Sons of the Sun’.

Much like the book itself, the video displays the boys getting to know the new culture, eating, shopping, and strolling the streets of the beautiful city.

Towards the end, the members also share their thoughts on their trip, and the book itself.

SHINee celebrates the release of their Barcelona travel book


On December 13th, SHINee‘s Onew, Key, and Taemin held a book release conference for their Barcelona travel book, ‘Children of the Sun‘.

The book is a photo essay documenting the trio’s experience during their week-long stay in Barcelona, Spain. It features journal-like entries from the members as they delve into personal stories and thoughts. As of the 13th, the book ranked in the top 10 bestsellers list.

At the press conference, the boys began, “We wrote down what we felt and experienced together in a diary format that we think many people will be able to connect to. We experienced a lot of things and felt a lot of passion as we learned about the culture of another country; it was also an opportunity for us to see a reflection of ourselves off stage.” 

When asked why they chose Barcelona, they replied, “It was our first break in a while, and we wanted to choose a location far away. All three of us were immediately attracted to Barcelona. We ate and hung out in the streets as much as we could, and we hope that more people visit Barcelona. For those that can’t, we hope that they’ll indirectly experience the joy through our book.” 

Key revealed, “Ever since our debut, I wanted to show this particular side of us. I think it’s a book that aptly captures our natural side off stage. My mom bought about 40 copies for herself to share with her friends. I think it is a fun book, and I hope that people will take an interest in it.” 

The boys also touched on some habits they discovered about one another. Onew began, “Key has always liked shopping, so while on vacation, he was walking around everywhere, without even a minute of rest. Although we’ve promoted together for such a long time, the three of us had different things we wanted to do. For example, I had a hard time understanding why Taemin was so adamant about buying a soccer uniform.”

He continued, “We had some free time in the middle of our vacation, and Key went shopping while Taemin went to swim. All three of us have very different hobbies.”

Key added, “I saw Onew hyung cooking and felt like I discovered a new side to him. I was surprised to see him cook, but even more surprised with the taste. Why? Because I chewed on raw rice when I tasted his dish.”

MBLAQ’s Seungho accidentally gets into SHINee’s van


On November 20th, k-pop fans in Taiwan got to see SHINee, SISTAR, MBLAQ, and ZE:A perform live at the ‘K-Friends 2011 Taipei Fireworks Concert‘ held at the Banqiao Gymnasium in Taipei. On top of the thrill of watching these top idols sing and dance right before their eyes, some lucky attendees who followed the artists afterwards caught a hilarious mishap that occurred between a few members of MBLAQ and SHINee.

Apparently, during MBLAQ’s departure from the venue, the members waited on the curbside for their transportation to arrive. As a van pulled up, a staff member and leader Seungho pulled open the door. The poor singer made a move to get into the van… only to be greeted by blank stares from SHINee’s Jonghyun and Key, who were sitting inside. Oh, the awkward.

SHINee’s Onew, Key, and Taemin to release book about their travels in Barcelona


SHINee‘s Onew, Key, and Taemin will become the first Korean idols to ever author a “vacation guide”.

The three SHINee members created a collection of their travels in Barcelona, Spain, and titled their guide,  ’The Sun’s Children‘. The book will include the members’ photos and stories from their time in the country as well as suggestions on where to eat in Barcelona. It’s targeted for readers who enjoy travelling, and for SHINee fans who would like to get a glimpse into the members’ experiences in Spain.

SHINee’s ‘The Sun’s Children’ will be available for pre-sale online on November 21st (KST). Those who reserve the book before the official December 8th release will receive a bonus postcard set of unrevealed photos.
