What do you think as a K-Pop fan: Will South Korean rapper Psy top his "Gangnam Style" video that caused an international sensation? It's hard to say so far — the video for his new single "Gentleman" was released early Saturday morning.

In the music video, the song's catchy beat, charismatic dancing, and humorous video production are all there, but it's not going to be easy for the superstar to beat his first breakthrough hit on YouTube. "Gangnam Style" is still smashing records with more than 1.5 billion views and counting.

The audio version of "Gentleman" first debuted on Thursday, and now it's time to see if lightning strikes twice for Psy's video prowess.

The video was introduced in a live performance by Psy, live-streamed on YouTube at 5:30 a.m. ET on Saturday, and it's being replayed for 24 hours here:

On December 30 on his Twitter, group Big Bang’s Seungri uploaded a photo along with a short message, “Pink Pink pink!!!! G pink!!”

In the picture are Seungri and G-Dragon with funny frowns on their faces. What drew the fans’ attention the most however, was G-Dragon’s new hairstyle. In the photo, G-Dragon sports a new hairstyle with the right side left jet black and the left side dyed a hot pink shade.

On December 29 on SBS’s “Gayo Daejun,” Big Bang drove the audience wild by performing the remix of “Fantastic Baby” and “Gangnam Style,” and the infamous horse dance.

Meanwhile, fans who saw this picture commented, “Big Bang’s performance yesterday was awesome,” “G-Dragon’s hair style resembles that of a parrot,” and “Seungri has such an adorable expression.”

The YG Entertainment artists were spotted partying after the recent ‘2012 Mnet Asian Music Awards“.
Epik High, Big Bang, Psy, and Han Ga In partied it up to “Gangnam Style“.

The artists were a bit tipsy, but that doesn’t seem to be keeping them from singing perfectly along to Psy’s hit. Daesung especially seems to be the life of the party, and he even starts screaming, “What the f*ck!!!!!!!!!” over and over again.

It’s been almost five months since its release, but PSY’s “Gangnam Style” continues to stay strong, recently breaking the record for the most watched video on YouTube. But PSY, the mastermind behind the Internet sensation, admitted that even he gets tired of the song at times, especially with so many people asking him to teach the dance.

At a press conference held in Singapore over the weekend, PSY said in English, “Sometimes, honestly, yes I get tired or I get sick of it because I got so many requests to teach them, you know, like average let me say 50 requests per city, per country.”

“I already taught the dance to so many people, so many times but still the dance takes me here, to make a press conference in Singapore, so of course sometimes I’m tired of it, but I got to do it, it’s my job,” he added.

However, the 34-year old rapper later showed his appreciation to the dance that made him an instant Internet sensation, saying, “I really like the dance still.”

After the press conference, PSY performed in front of thousands of fans just outside the Marina Bay Sands casino complex. In late November, PSY’s “Gangnam Style” became the most watched video on YouTube of all time in the shortest period of time. Currently, PSY is part of the nominee list for TIME magazine’s annual “Person of the Year” award.

Many Kpop fans were expecting to see Psy‘s “Gangnam Style” on FOX‘s hit American musical comedy-drama television series “GLEE“. However, they were in for a surprise when Big Bang‘s “Fantastic Baby” was also briefly featured on the show.

During one point in the show, Harry Shum Jr.’s character Mike Chang stated, “Korean boy bands are tearing up the music scene and there’s a lot that we can learn from them“. He then proceeds to dance familiar dance steps to the music of “Fantastic Baby”.

If you can recall, both Harry Shum Jr. and Kevin McHale of “GLEE” attended Big Bang’s ‘Alive Tour 2012‘ concert in Anaheim earlier in the month.

An internet meme featuring a Nostradamus prediction on Psy‘s “Gangnam Style” has been receiving attention.

An online community recently shared a faux Nostradamus quote that read, “From the calm morning, the end will come when of the dancing horse the number of circles will be 9“. The quote seemed to fit perfectly with Psy – Korea is called the ‘The Land of the Morning Calm’, Psy’s dance is the ‘horse’ dance, and the circle of 9 could be interpreted as the video quickly approaches 900 million views. Additionally, there’s also a chance “Gangnam Style” will reach 1 billion views around the Mayan-calendar-end-date of December 21st.

Fans were got amused by the joke meme as they commented, “So Psy marks the end of our world?“, “This is just taking Psy’s popularity a little too far“, and “I spat out my ramen reading this post because I was laughing so hard“.

In any case, memes like this just seem to give further credence to Psy’s popularity.

Psy has delayed his flight to Thailand because of health issues.

YG Entertainment explained, “Psy had to unavoidably cancel leaving the country because of all the exhaustion that has caught up with him. He is currently resting. He will still be performing at the ‘2012 Mnet Asian Music Awards‘ as scheduled.”

Originally, Psy was scheduled to participate in the 85th birthday of King Bhumibol Adulyadej that would occur on the 28th in Bangkok, Thailand. He was scheduled to depart on a 7PM plane from Incheon Airport. However, even though he had to push his flight back because of his condition, he is still adamant on attending all of his scheduled events.

He will be singing 4-5 songs including “Gangnam Style” at the birthday event, and move into Hong Kong the next day.

Looks like Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, and Heidi Klum weren’t the only ones who Psy snagged a commemorative photo with!

Psy also snapped a photo with Carly Rae Jepsen, who had taken a photo with U-KISS at the ’Girl’s Award 2012‘ the day before. He tweeted,

Psy has once again shown off his popularity.

The “Gangnam Style” singer has been snapping photos with world-famous celebrities, including LMFAO‘s Redfoo, Hugh Jackman, Steven Spielberg, ‘Jersey Shore‘ cast along with ‘The View‘ panel, and that’s just naming a few.

Psy was in attendance at the MTV European Music Awards, where he won ‘Best Music Video‘. While at the star-studded event, he also didn’t forget to snap a few photos with the celebrities that were in attendance.

Kim Kardashian posted a photo of Kanye West, herself, and Psy on her Twitter, simply writing,

Girls’ Generation‘s YoonA and Psy were just recently swept up in absurd rumors regarding the two’s secret affair.

One Chinese media outlet falsely reported, “Korean singer Psy had an affair with YoonA six months before the release of ‘Gangnam Style‘.

The media outlet stated, “Psy attended a party held in celebration of preparation for another singer’s album. YoonA was sitting in the corner but as soon as Psy livened up the mood, she developed a favorable impression [of him].”

The article continued, “Psy’s wife knew of the affair but kept quiet because she did not want to destroy their family. When YoonA was asked about Psy during the Vivian Westwood fashion show held on the 2nd, she did not give an answer.”

On the 5th, in response to the news SM Entertainment stated, “These are nonsensical reports to which it is not worth responding to. We think it is quite regretful to hear.” YG Entertainment responded similarly saying, “The information is absurd. We are astonished.”

Currently, the article is quickly spreading through other media outlets and social network sites. However, local Chinese residents who have come across the article are just as shocked at the unreliable information, and are criticizing the original media outlet responsible for reporting the false rumor.

The upcoming November 8th episode of “GLEE” will feature a performance of “Gangnam Style” and as a special teaser for fans, GLEE’s official YouTube channel uploaded a preview of the performance.

Psy and United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki Moon met on the 23rd at the United Nations headquarters in New York.

Upon meeting Psy, Ban Ki Moon joked, “I’m a little jealous of Psy. Recently, a friend told me that I used to be the most famous Korean in the world, but now I had to give up that position because of Psy.” Psy replied to the onlookers, “You are currently looking at the most famous Korean and the second most famous Korean in the world.”

Ban Ki Moon continued with his jokes and said, “Psy, you are really cool. I think Psy can solve the problem of global warming because he’s so cool. Also, since he’s so full of energy, he may also be the answer to the energy crisis.” He also revealed, “More than 500 million people saw Psy’s music video on YouTube. That’s more than 10 times the population of Korea. I’ve seen Psy’s music video on YouTube many times as well.”

Psy expressed his surprise and said, “Really? That means you increased my YouTube view count. This is a big moment in my life. Koreans respect Secretary General Ban Ki Moon, so I’m honored that you even clicked on my YouTube video.” When the media members asked Psy to teach the Secretary General the horse dance, Psy replied, “I think he already knows it“, and the two posed in the famous ‘horse dance’ stance.

It’s not only stars from abroad who are loving Psy‘s “Gangnam Style“.

On the October 12th “Psy behind story” special of SBS‘ ‘Good Morning‘, stars such as Jang Geun Suk, Lee Byung Hun, Big Bang, and Jung Hyung Don showed their support for Psy.

Jang Geun Suk shouted, “Psy ‘Gangnam Style’ fighting!” with his fans in Paris. Lee Byung Hun shyly shared, “Oppan Gangnam Style. The title is definitely Psy’s style.”

Big Bang also commented, “Psy is Gangnam style. Big Bang is Mapo style.” Jung Hyung Don made viewers laugh by making funny expressions as he claimed that he himself was Gangnam style.

In a past clip, J.Y. Park also shared that he was the inspiration behind “Gangnam Style”.

J.Y. Park recently showed his support for Psy and his success with “Gangnam Style” on the October 12th broadcast of SBS‘ ‘Good Morning‘.

During the show, a clip of J.Y. Park claiming he is the inspiration behind the hit song caught the attention of viewers. J.Y. Park shared, “I started to support a YG artist because I heard that I was the inspiration behind the song,” and laughed shyly.

However, it seems that it was a misunderstanding as the clip of J.Y. Park was actually recorded before Psy released the song. A representative from JYP Entertainment explained that J.Y. Park filmed the support message to help out Psy, who is his hoobae and good friend. The representative added, “J.Y. Park, who is currently taking time off, probably doesn’t even know this misunderstanding occurred.”

Behind-the-scenes footage of Psy filming his unforgettable music video was also played on the program. Ironically, Psy commented, “Even as I’m filming it, [I feel like it doesn't make sense]. As I film scene after scene, [it feels like it’s in vain,” revealing that he did not expect the song and music video to become a global sensation.

The ‘New York Post‘ recently updated fans on Psy

According to the Post, Psy spent last Friday night drinking with Scooter Braun and Usher after “Gangnam Style” hit rank number one on the United States iTunes chart. On Saturday night he enjoyed the company of famous Hollywood stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Gerard Butler, Paris Hilton, and Stacy Keibler in the VIP room of the Meatpacking District’s 1Oak.

Psy quickly rose as a worldwide star after his single “Gangnam Style” became a huge hit. He has made appearances on many different American shows such as the ‘Today Show‘, ‘Ellen Degeneres Show‘, ‘SNL‘, ‘Extra‘, and more. Psy has also become the first Korean artist to rank number one on the iTunes charts of 18 different countries, including the United States.

In related news, Psy will also perform at the iHeartRadio music festival in Las Vegas on September 21st.

It has been reported that Psy has officially signed on with Island Records, the label of Justin Bieber.

Psy’s representative revealed on September 4th, “Psy has signed on with Island Records for his management worldwide with the exception of Korea.”

Along with the news, it has also been announced that Psy will be attending the MTV VMA (Video Music Awards) coming up. The representative revealed, “Psy will be leaving Korea to stand on stage at the MTV VMA on the 6th, and will also be discussing future plans with Island Records during the trip.”

Island Records is currently the management of popular world stars like Justin Bieber and Jennifer Lopez, and signing with the label will definitely be a good stepping stone for Psy on the road to becoming a global star.

Scooter Braun, the talent manager behind Justin Bieber, is said to have played a big role in the deal and he and Psy have celebrated the occasion with a drink and a toast, which you can see here.

In related news, Psy is currently nearing 100 million views on his “Gangnam Style” music video.

From T-Pain, Josh Groban to Katy Perry, Psy’s “Gangnam Style” has been catching the attention of many renowned American artists, and the recognition does not stop there. No other than American pop icon Britney Spears has joined the list, and is taking her turn to show interest.

On August 29, Britney Spears posted on her personal Twitter account, “I am LOVING this video – so fun! Thinking that I should possibly learn the choreography. Anybody wanna teach me?! Haha,” linking the music video to her post.

Within forty-one days of its release on YouTube, Psy has garnered a staggering number of views for his music video, surpassing the number of views on all other Korean artists’ videos.

The “Gangnam Style” video that has been receiving love and attention all over the world only continues to turn more heads and make even more newspaper headlines.

After two years, Psy has announced that he will be making a comeback with his new album ‘Psy’s Best Sixth’. After releasing the tracklist and album cover, the singer has unveiled an entertaining MV teaser for one of his tracks, “Gangnam Style“.

The tracklist for ‘Psy’s Best Sixth’ includes “Tree Frog”, “A Hot Hello”, “Gangnam Style”, “77 Theories”, “What Should I Have Done?”, and, “Never Say Goodbye”, for a total of six new songs. Famous artists such as G-Dragon, Leessang, Sung Shi Kyung, Yoon Do Hyun, Lena Park, andKim Jin Pyo are reported to be featuring in this album. Furthermore, the title song, “Gangnam Style”, Psy has composed both the lyrics and the music.
